Back home from , feeling cooked, but in one (very tired) piece. 235 miles up, 250 miles patrolling (probably 11 hours of seat time in 12 hours), and 215 miles home after a brief snooze. Nothing truly eventful, but a whole lot of stuff to deal with. One team's support van drove off the road, one patrol rider had to leave due to equipment failure/weather conditions, too much fresh bear scat, and tons of back and forth over 40+ miles of the course.

And WAY too many deer.

Finishing up the last few work things before heading up to Portland to do the patrol for the . Tomorrow night through Saturday morning I'll be riding the western end of the course between Mist and Seaside, managing four teams of riders, and keeping tabs on (I think) over a thousand pedestrians.

Today, however, I had a few minutes to spare and took the girl for a spin around the neighborhood.

Had my MRI this morning. It was an interesting experience, but I could see it would be problematic if you are claustrophobic.

The tech was great, I listened to classic rock, it took a half hour for the scans and I got to relax the whole time. Need to find a bolster pillow like they have, it's perfect!

Hopefully the spine people look them over quickly and call me for an appointment next week, I'd like to get this show on the road and start training again

Signups are open for the Eyes on Wheels deterrence patrols for the 2023 Hood To Coast and other races. Riders patrol remote sections of the race courses, providing a visual deterrent, as well as supporting racers and reporting any issues that may arise.

It is challenging, rewarding, and funβ€”although a very different sort of fun than, say, sex or riding a motorcycle very fast.

More info at the link, or ask me.
