Javascript developers so badly want to colocate their business logic with their view logic, and they'll tolerate all kinds of perverse patterns to enable that.

27 followers · 479 posts · Server mstdn.socialIt's only after a year with React Hooks that I begin to see a method to this madness. I don't think I would recommend it to anyone because there are too many unobvious things happening under the hood; give it another year maybe.
Actually, to maintain my sanity, I have treated Hooks like a riddle, as if it was a game, not a valid paradigm. And it worked.

An example, #hooks were going to solve some issues, but created new ones.
#React was created when SPAs were popular & google started #SEO on #javascript.
Both SPAs & google's js SEO have failed.
Latest requirements are static SEO websites & for speed SSR or SSG.
#webdev has gone full circle. I started with ASP.NET, it used to send state in HTML & pages server rendered.
Latest frameworks offer that with great performance.
