The hops are bagged. So today is that one day of the year where things get really awkward if the police pulls me over on the way home...
(Shoutout to my mother and in-laws who harvested this giant crop of hops while I explored ancient ruins and Turkish wine...)

However, we got some unexpected rain, and they're pretty wet.
Is it okay to harvest and use wet hops? Or would I be better off pushing back my harvest and brew day until things are dry (I'm in Portland, Oregon, if that's relevant. The hops look good to me, but this is my first time harvesting them, so I'm not sure what to look for.)

My hops are coming along and I'm so pleased. This variety is called Brewers Gold. It has such a beautiful, citrusy aroma and I just want to crush the cones in my hand to really capture that scent.

My hops will probably become ready to harvest when I am in Turkey. Can I leave them hanging for a week or something or do they grow bad quickly?

It got covered in honeydew from overhanging trees in June and then got soot fungus as a result. I am trying to propagate a second bine by layering, but seem to be killing one of my shoots trying.... Once I do succeed, I will set one up over my gate. This is in Sheffield, UK, where we are on the cool and damp end of el nino. #sootfungus #hops #humuluslupus

But, #GreenWizardy, I do know. Anyways…. #Hops are a great solution to too much Sun in spots. They are perennial, grow like crazy, provide not only shade but #Beer and #HerbalMedicine ingredients, die back in Winter, provide habitat, and want nothing once established. Cheap, too.

WOAH, this is a weird one. So it kinda tastes like bread-cheese?
They basically took hops and mixed them in milk and made a sorta soft-cheddar. I had a few bites and I don’t think it is really for me, but if you’re a hoppy IPA beer-head you might like it?
Don’t eat it with another cheese, it really is overpowering.
