Darkness all around,
Silence broken by footfalls,
Something's drawing near.

Eyes open, heart racing,
A shape moves in the shadows,
Chilling to the bone.

Whispers in the dark,
Soft, insistent, haunting voice,
"You're not alone here."

Frozen in terror,
Heart pounding, breath held tight,
Evil lurks nearby.

The night stretches on,
Fear and dread consume the soul,
Never to escape.
