Because today has been a shit and upsetting day, I didn't get around to . But I'll put one up before I go to bed. This fine old horse chestnut is outside one of the oldest houses in my town, the old manor house.

An open question to the floor... Has anyone ever seen Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) used as a hedging plant? Not sweet chestnut — horse?

Came across someone's project in a public space. I'm pretty sure it needs to be pulled before the saplings get established, but just wanted to check.

Conkers are associated with hope and prosperity, they are large and shiny, quite a prize. I still can't resist collecting conkers. I have some at home that I collected from this tree.

Anne Frank wrote three times about the horse chestnut tree that she could see from her window when in hiding, with the birds it was the only thing she could see.

It gave her hope.

It's conkers were collected, from them saplings were cared for and cherished for all to enjoy.
