My 99 year old dad had a stroke last week and is currently in the hospital. He has lost function on his left side, is unable to swallow, but can interact and is very creative about communicating with gestures and nods. It seems like there is very little they can do for him, medically, and the recommendation is hospice care. Insight? Encouragement? Wisdom? All appreciated. #stroke #hospice #endoflife

Sorry I've been missing for quite a while.

May 1 I lost my job. July 1, my #brother went into #hospice. I am now in #Oregon instead of #Louisiana as I take care of my brother.

He was only expected to live about a week, we are starting week 3, but he is getting weaker and weaker.

Anyway, I still need a real job. Still trying to survive. Trying to figure out how we are going to pay the $2000 for his #cremation.

I have now successfully spent 9 weeks of 2023 in my own region of the country. Still feels weird being home after 12-13 weeks in another state.

Apologies if this is all I seem to be focusing on lately and you're here for goofy fun, but they are moving my grandmother to a #hospice facility now, meaning there isn't much time left. I don't think she'll make it past next week and it is really messing me up.

General update. Things are moving rapidly. Pat will go home today to live out her remaining time in #hospice. I've been on the phone with her several times over the past two days and will check with her daily.

On Friday, the family back east is going to gather to start setting plans for the service.
