Farideh Moradkhani, engineer, rights activist and niece of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was arrested on 23 November 2022. In a video posted online on 25 November, she said "This regime is not loyal to any of its religious principles and does not know any law or rule except force and maintaining its power in any way possible."

Rapper Toomaj Salehi, who had supported protests, may face the death penalty for "corruption on earth", one of the regime's most serious charges.

Other detainees, including rights defender Hossein Ronaghi and footballer Voria Ghafouri, may be released in an amnesty after Iran's World Cup defeat of Wales.
