This the 1730 full metal hotend designed by Kai Parthy in 2015 and launched on Kickstarter in 2016.

You can print 1.75mm and 2.85mm filaments just by swapping the nozzle.

It was ahead of its time, and many modern hotends have only recently implemented some of its features!

Hey, 3D printer nerds: how often do you replace your hot end? I’ve been probably putting a new one in every six months or so after a failed print creates a bad clog. (But mostly because I hate cutting new tubes) . Would a direct drive kit prevent this?

It seemed not to be so big jam that I feared off, I just poked a little with long needle and it seemed to extrude once again.

But didn’t have time to actually print something to see if still having issues. And the root cause for the jam is still a mystery.

And now it seems that hotend might have a jam; can not get the filament to move towards the nozzle or out of the whole system.

Didn’t help when tried to increase the temp and manually pushing or pulling. So maybe I need to rip it apart and buy hot air gun to clear it.

Not so good start for my direct drive conversion as I printed just one print before this happened. Might take awhile to get enough time to fix it and to find what caused it.
