Today I learned how to cover 3/4" plywood with indoor/outdoor carpeting. In addition to making the floor of the #HouseConcert stage, I expect this skill to be useful for building cat trees and corner scratchers.

Still no floor on the #HouseConcert stage, but we set it in place and got the backdrop put up: seven 52" black polyester velvet curtain panels on plain standard rods, attached to a frame of 2 by 2 lumber which is screwed to the back of the stage and to a wall stud at either end.

Still have to carpet the 3/4" plywood tops and screw them on, but otherwise, the #HouseConcert stage modules are done. They bolt together on the neighboring sides. With the internal bracing, they are so solid that the living room floor is more likely to collapse than the stage.

Got the first #HouseConcert stage module assembled. We laid it down on the floor and R and I stood on it and bounced on our feet. The top flexes just a bit on either side of the center support in the box, so we're adding a cross support. (I'll post some photos once we finalize the design and start building the other three modules.)

So my wife and I host house concerts. They can be any genre, but we like Celtic music. Tonight we are hosting a house concert on our patio after a long pandemic pause. It’s Randal Bays, an Irish fiddler accompanied by Clint Dyes on guitar.
