The only reason the Speaker of the House of Commons would voice an opinion on Labour's proposal to abolish the House of Lords is the prospect of a cushy peerage for himself.

I’ve come to the conclusion I like neither Tories or Labour. They’re too entrenched in the past and this two party race they’re holding onto for dear life. They speak for a minority of Brits now. The numbers in the elections are evident if that if only that were reflected in the house. FPTP has to be abolished not just the House of Lords. Coalition government and brave changes are the only way forward.

@mirrorpolitics The latest edition of Private Eye says that Mone, since her maiden Lords speech in 2016, “has since made just four more contributions in the chamber, the most recent being more than two years ago.” If so, how will anyone notice she has taken leave of absence?

He can start with abolishing PM honours lists. Abandoned by Blair and restarted by Cameron they are a disgrace, and create the impression of a corrupt parliament with tainted peerages.
