In order of priority
1) move to a (smaller) instance that
houses people with similar interests.
2) Be social. Favorite toots that you like, comment, boost.
3) Use hashtags. Search for them and use them in your post.
4) Use mastodon groups. Look at some of my toots for example groups.
5) Maybe Mastodon is not for you and you want to try a different kind of algorithm free, ad-free environment like Vero True Social.

Remember that #favorite -ing posts is really a direct message to the original poster saying "I agree with you" or "hell yeah!" but not to any one else in the #fediverse . If somebody says something that should be passed around, you should #boost it.

I’m figuring out that the way to find people here is using hashtags then seeing who’s chatting/tooting, since trying to follow people friends follow doesn’t work well due to being on different services. What are the difference servers called? Can’t remember #fibrofog #howtomastodon

Is there a #Mastodon client that is good at handling multiple accounts?
(ideally I find one on iOS, iPadOS and MacOS or in a browser).

Look at the Local #timeline from time to time. Even if you don't know a #hashtag to look for, you'll find new interesting people to follow! Give it a go. Your feed will grow and diversify (so there's a greater variety of content to interact with).

I you don't want to see toots about #Twitter #Threads etc. using filters will make them disappear from your timeline. You can filter words, hashtags, and even specify how long the filter will last.

I made a post where I included a photo, but forgot to include an ALT description.

Ice cubes and the web client will allow me to edit the post text, but do not give me the ability to add the ALT description while editing. Likewise, if I remove the photo while editing the post, and re-add the same photo, I’m still not allowed to add ALT text.

There’s got to be a way to do this that doesn’t require deleting and reposting, right?

Mastodon is no harder than Twitter was when it was also new to us. If any of your friends feel stuck in Twitter, remind them they can have a Mastodon account too, and soon they will just prefer Mastodon. I have no doubt.
