Bah, I dunno about #HRV sometimes. Three different measurements this morning:
1. Visible, 2 min, finger: very low
2. HRV4Training, 5 min, chest strap: very high
3. Elite HRV, 2 min, chest strap, sitting up: bang on average.
Pfft! Trying to add objectivity to #mecfs is a crap shoot.
In any case, I had an awful night so #HardRest it is!
@mavori @mavori Weisch, ich mein was anderes.
Do any of you use your Garmin to measure hrv on the regular? Seems pretty hokey on my 945, requiring a hr strap, and having to manually do it.
I was thinking of this being a more live sampling scenario. #hrv #TrainingStress
Here's my new Boles Bells article:
"We don’t yet understand much about the incoming perils with Long Covid. It appears there is growing evidence that Long Covid is already adversely affecting people’s lungs, and hearts, and the need for urgent emergency transplantation — and we have to be cautious, and careful, about moving forward in a safe way that leads to longevity and conservative recovery!"

@roothflud I'm not using it myself, but I've seen some discussion of it on the Science for ME forum. Here are a couple of links:

Blogpost - Update 2: Using a heart rate monitor to better manage MECFS (finding my baseline, halting decline)
https://www.gwenfarsgarden.info/2023/02/update-2-using-a-heart-rate-monitor-to-better-manage-mecfs-finding-my-baseline-halting-decline.html
It's taken me a bit more time to write this up than I intended, but hopefully it has some useful info about how I've been using a HRM to manage #MECFS, and slowly, halt further decline, and actually see some improvement.
Feel free to share and ask questions.

So last year I got covid in July and then ?virus in November just after I was starting to feel better and managed a few 20min low intensity yoga and bike sessions
Here the impact on #HRV
(Higher hrv = better)

In 1985 Canadians were designing and building their own ventilation heat exchanger for efficient home #ventilation. The design is similar to many commercial units today. You can view the instructions in Solplan 6: An air exchanger for energy efficient well-sealed houses. (Besant, Dumont, Hamlin, Schoenau, 1985)

So my fitbit says my Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is quite low (like 20ms), and my Exist program found some correlations between changes in my HRV and some of my weather related migraine triggers.
So today I went hunting to see if we knew anything about migraine and HRV.
And it turns out people with migraine tend to have low HRV! A study of people with episodic migraine found HRV is lower during attacks
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33833731/
And some researchers think it could help explain why migraine predisposes people to cardiovascular disease since low HRV is predictive of CVD.
https://sci-hub.st/10.1001/archinte.167.20.2264-a
But why is migraine associated with low HRV? And which way does any causality actually go?

Anyone doing #psychophysiology studies (#HRV, #RSA, #skinConductance) have experience using data from more than one (#biopac) acquisition setup in a single study? Anything we should be careful about?
In #fMRI using images from different scanners in the same study is a major analysis challenge, but here we can either see breaths and (3-lead EKG) R peaks or not. Skin conductance seems like it might be more difficult, if e.g., amplifiers vary in drift.
