Yesterday i found out that California not only doesn't let you deduct #HSA health savings from your wages to reduce your taxable income, they also don't respect that HSAs are #tax sheltered at all and technically require you to report any interest income, gains and losses etc from trading in those accounts. I have seen the horrors in the depths and I pray that no one else will ever know them.

Oh nice... the 2023 contribution limit for Health Savings Accounts increased to $3850 for singles! Of all my investing, my HSA is one of my favorites. I max it out, every year. 😍

I'm been lucky, I'm relatively healthy. But we all have medical expenses, time to time. It's nice to save + invest within the triple tax benefits of an HSA. ☀️

@Kyle_Itzy Very true however there is a great deal wrong with #HSA 's regardless of whether they're a prelude to privatization or not.

Our primary health care system is struggling and the money that will go into HSA's could be better spent there. Many of the services she wants to cover are of dubious medical benefit and those that aren't should be just be added to covered services. Finally HSA's come with additional admin costs.

Deciding what amount to put in a HSA each year is way too stressful. You’d think working in healthcare finance would make this easier but, nope.

The use-or-lose rule is stupid. Just give back any amount not used at the end of the year, less the taxes owed on it. Easy peasy.
