If you run #Ubuntu 22.04 on an #Intel based #HTPC and you are a #Kodi user, and you have a 4K receiver and any #HDR content you play in Kodi looks washed out, you could install #LibreELEC but then you would have to give up your Ubuntu desktop (or figure out how to dual boot, but that is specifically not supported by LibreElec) or you can try to build a version of Kodi that will actually display HDR content correctly. If you are not comfortable with building it yourself, see post #51 in that thread for alink to an already built version, but note you'll probably still need to know a little bit about # Linux to use it because it can't run while X11 is running (not certain about Wayland).

Set up OSMC on the rpi4 today because the upnp/dlna apps on the Roku and LG tv are crap. Was surprisingly easy to do - then I set up my phone as a remote. Hopefully will be easy to maintain.

On my Intel i3 based chromebook, the VLC Android app stutters on MP4 files. Fortunately the built in Gallery app plays MP4 files just fine. You can set a different default app for each file type by right clicking (two finger press on trackpad) a file in the Files app. #chromeos #htpc

Wiped #Proxmox off my recent addition to my #homelab today and replaced it with #NixOS since the quite powerful, integrated GPU can't really be passed through to my VMs and I kind of want to use it both as a server and a #HTPC...
I still really like Proxmox but some things are better run on bare-metal than virtualized :nixos:
