On #HuCardHuesday here’s “Appare! Gate Ball”. This is a 1988 game developed by Azuma & published by #HudsonSoft. Unusually this is a Croquet simulator played by 2 teams with the player choosing their side from a selection of offbeat characters.

On #HuCardHuesday here’s “Side Arms Special”. Surprisingly this 1989 CD-ROM2 based shoot-em-up is a bit of a downgrade from the #HuCard version as it features simpler graphics. It does however add an extra mode which plays slightly differently.

On #HuCardHuesday here’s “Altered Beast”. This is the CD-ROM2 based version of #Sega’s 1988 arcade beat-em-up, converted by #NEC Avenue to the #PCEngine in 1989. This is very slightly enhanced over the #HuCard version, but not as much as you might expect.

On #HuCardHuesday here’s “R-Type Complete CD”. This is a 1991 Super CD-ROM2 release. Being a very early #NEC #PCEngine game, the original #HuCard version of R-Type was split onto two cards. This combines the two but also adds animated cut scenes & new audio.
