I'm thinking of building a static website/blog where I could host my astrophotography images as well as some blog posts, tutorials, etc.

Features I'm looking for:
- Built-in or plugins for generating image galleries from high resolution images
- Image viewing tool/plugin with ability to zoom/pan in high resolution images
- Ability to generate pages from template and separate data (yaml, etc.)
- Possibility to include code blocks with syntax highlighting
- Tags
- Simplicity of use

I'm starting to look into Jekyll and Hugo. Any other tools or recommendations? Thx.

I touched #Hugo yesterday for the first time in years. Picked a theme and started adding some content - that was a breeze (yes I'm up to something).

I wanted to add alternative sources for videos tho but the omnipresent #fontawesome lib may know a lot of brands but is missing icons for the #openweb

https://pfefferle.dev/openwebicons/ has me covered on this and while this really is in need of updates for more #Fediverse icons I have at least a Fediverse icon itself available :D

This need more. Any takers?

Planning a trip next month where we may or may not have mobile coverage at times (and i may or may not spend time laid up through too much walking on my bung knees)

Spend chunks of today sorting out two static #hugo sites. I am constatly amazed at the power of these static website generator frameworks and all the hot air that used to be required to set-up and run a good looking site!

An *utter* yak shave of a day, today, that started with
"I'll just test these small changes for a client's #Hugo #StaticSite", progressed into
"why's the production #sitemap.xml borked /before/ I've merged anything?" and is now deep inside
"why does #Netlify's build process work <this way> and not <this way>?".

I give up.

Is the a good #opensource workflow for adding content to a #staticsite from a mobile device? E.g. writing something in markdown using joplin, auto-uploading to a #hugo project and then auto-generating the html in some self-hosted site.

It feels that all/many? components are there but something tested and robust that will keep things in sync, wont mangle the site, provide feedback on status etc would be nice to have.

VS CodeでGrepをしたりPythonを叩いたりHugoでGithubへ流し込みなどMarkdownファイル、テキストファイルに行き着いた点が、まさに究極の終着点だと思います。
プログラマーなら当り前のことも、いちユーザーはサービスやソフトを利用して提供される機能を工夫して使ってきたものを、PC本来の持つ機能を利用して自分がやりたいことを実現させる、情報を自分に取り戻した、そんなお話しも激しく同意できました。
これらもいろんなライブラリが充実してきたこと、PCの高性能化、インターネットによる情報の共有化も大きいのでしょうね。
色んなことが成熟した結果、原点回帰していくのは実に興味深いです。😆

静的サイトジェネレーターの柔軟性に魅力を感じつつ、せっかく調べたことをブログ公開したいと思います。ここではブログのネタを呟いておこうと思います。

Is it possible to teach #hugo a new content type? Use case: Have Hugo reading JPEG files, extract EXIF data and generate posts from the image and data.

I understand Hugo does not support plugins. Any other means to do this?

@gdeihl @scott @axnxcamr @marcolo @breadandcircuses I am not a native speaker that might show. Also I wanted to use #hugo which is a great pain in the ass, especially images and text are horrible to place.

Please do let me know if you see horrible language or logical mistakes if you can find the time for it.

@eclecticpassions I dont have a lot of experience in the blog space but I did research a bit and wanted a very simple static site. I settled on #hugo which was fairly straightforward to learn. There are many different themes available so you can find one that fits your needs. My site is in my profile if you want to see the result -- I was going for simplistic so there's not a lot of bells and whistles.

This past month I have been wondering if I chose the right #CMS (#WordPress). I'm getting more and more intrigued by the likes of static site generators like #Hugo or #Jekyll + #GithubPages. And then I discovered #512KBclub and #1MBclub which highlights the unnecessary bloat on many websites. My blog is currently at 809Kb (uncompressed)...

Using WordPress is not as smooth as I like; I often don't feel like writing due to the clunkiness of the interface.

What CMS do you use for your #blog?
