#RobertoGildeMontes explore how the effects of the rainy season in La Peñita, a small fishing town in #Nayarit, #Mexico, can radically alter how we see water, figuration, and figments of local #Huichol iconography in the tropics.

This is Tatewari, the Huichol god of fire. The medium is yarn art, wherein a mixture of beeswax and pine resin is used to coat a surface and then yarn is arranged and pressed into it. Huichol spiritual practices include the consumption of peyote. But maybe that's obvious. This piece belongs to my partner and I photographed it at her request for another endeavor. But I thought y'all might like to see it.
