Much in the same way that lethal injection sanitizes the reality of state killing, the #HumaneSlaughter of animals still operates on the principle that humans have dominion over other "lesser" animals.

No matter how painless the killing is, it's killing nonetheless.

Clearly, there's no such thing as a truly #CrueltyFree life. But it does feel disingenuous to argue that life is precious until we want to eat an animal.

If #Insects are indeed #sentient, what would that mean for #animalwelfare law, and how we treat them in #farming, at home, in #research? Should we extend extend #AnimalWelfare Act 2006, so insect farms minimising suffering and use #humaneslaughter?.

What about Animals in Scientific Procedures Act? Like protecting octopuses should we regulate insect research, apply #3Rs and #ethics?
