All modern, sophisticated #programming languages born since the 1990s lack that joyous "lilt" of the languages from those older, simpler times.

These days, we keep chasing new languages based on supported paradigms, type system, feature set, web support, tool set, compilation speed, execution speed, ecosystem, user base. Exhausting. But we now rarely ever consider simplicity, smallness, satisfaction, inherent safety, systems implementation, mechanical sympathy, biological empathy, orthogonality, restraint, philosophy, and cognitive load.

In short, we #IT practitioners have lost our way. We ought to consider the #HumanFactor when designing and selecting programming languages.
