, or tagasaste, is a small spreading evergreen tree that grows 3–4 m (10–13 ft) high.

This one is growing in a public transport terminus in - not as tall as described, but is spreading.

I read with interest, these are used as a fertilizer tree. And feed for farming!

Also known as .

It is a member of the Fabaceae (pea) family and is indigenous to the dry volcanic slopes of the Canary Islands (been there once but didn’t notice them) but it is now grown in Australia, and many other parts of the world as a fodder crop.

How intriguing!

Check out the buds on this × soulangeana… aka the saucer magnolia or sometimes known as the tulip tree.

It is a deciduous tree with large, early-blooming flowers in various shades of white, pink, and purple.

I’ll be making a beeline back in a week or two to view the plethora of buds that will hopefully be in bloom by then!

have been turning colour for some months now. Depending on their locale throughout Melbs.

But with the introduction of -proper, many are turning a bright red. And red all over.

Not sure I’ve seen so many turn so swiftly - and so dark for some time.

My mum used to grow these (a staple in my childhood garden) and whilst I marvelled as a kid with their ever-evolving colour changes, these ones I’m observing of late are really spectacular.

🙏❤️

This is stunning!

They’re native to Mexico and Central America. But I’ve seen quite a few now pop up around suburban .

They appear to come in a diverse array of shapes (designs) and colours. There are 49 different species of these things.

The two colours in the flowering head on this one is quite something else, huh?

This is special.

These in are still flowering despite being early in this neck of the global woods.

The sun was out, which is synonymous with these beauties.

This variety is quite fluffy in appearance - so you can probably imagine running your fingers through the petals ever so lightly…

…and yes you’re right. To the touch they’re very soft.

Just beautiful 🌻

A highly intelligent eyeing me up and and as I snapped.

He was happy as I was sitting from a distance in the car but these birds are known to recognise familiar faces and just ‘know things’.

They’re gorgeous birds, these.

There is nothing ordinary about the (Helianthus annuus)… imo they’re one of the most breathtaking flowers on earth.

These ones certainly are! I’ve seen these for the last fortnight growing in the garden fronting a busy road in . Took a special trip out to photograph.

I spent a whole 10 minutes in awe. Even the ’s couldn’t resist them.

are commonly grown as a crop for its edible oily seeds. Apart from cooking oil, it is also used as livestock feed (meal), as bird food and of course as an ornamental in gardens like this one.

This is a .

Also known as a , because if it’s elongated flowers. It is a flowering plant native to , , and .

It grows as an evergreen, and can reach a height of 5 metres.

The pink flowers have reddish stripes in the centre, with darker veins - I had a sniff and they were fragrant as anything!
