Went to brush my teeth this morning and saw someone behind me in the mirror. Mirror-bombed by a Huntsman. Apparently we have a new housemate.

For anyone wondering … no, deodorant does not kill spiders and no, I didn’t get close enough to see if it smelled any better. So I drowned it in insect spray and it definitely did not like that.

Nearly died on the way to work when a huntsman decided to wander across the INSIDE of the drivers side window.

Well! After successfully relocating the garden orb spider that had spun a web across where we walk. It was surprisingly stuck and well protected with web! And it dropped to the ground right at my feet, kinda getting the adrenalin pumping! Then when I opened the spa cover to start preparing to drain it, this beauty dropped down! #spiders #australia #huntsmanspider

I kind of have a soft spot for spiders. I guess I'm very much aligned to the "live and let live" philosophy. I've always figured if you stay out of their way and they stay out of yours everyone will be happy.
This mindset has led me to being the household "spider remover". Over the years I swear I've relocated hundreds of spiders into the backyard.
So I was very surprised to discover this fawn coloured huntsman last night.
Now this may be because I'm not at home (currently on holiday in Healesville) and maybe they have different colouring out this way? Either way I just wanted to share.

@t4ms He really was a whopper - almost the size of my hand. There's no way (short of feeding him myself) that he'd have survived indoors for long, so putting him back from whence he came was the kindest thing. 🕷️
