A #Pliocene scene of the #deer Libralces and the cursorial #hyaena Chasmaporthetes. Libralces was an early relative of the moose, which was about 1.5 m at the shoulder - the size of a wapiti - with extremely long antlers. These had a long beam with a small palmation at the end, and reached about 2 m in breadth. Chasmaporthetes was about the size of the modern spotted hyaena lacked its bone crushing adaptations and may have functioned more like a wolf. #palaeoart
