One of the the two arched bellcotes of John Honeyman's 1881Classical Renaissance Church on Westbourne Gardens in the west end of Glasgow. I love the shape it makes against the sky.

Tower on the rear elevation of Alexander 'Greek' Thomson's Great Western Terrace in the west end of Glasgow which was built in the 1870s, making it one of his final works.

In some ways this feature foreshadows the many towers and turrets which went on to become a common element of tenement buildings across the city by the end of the 19th Century.

Half of these buildings are the B Listed terraced houses on Highburgh Road in Glasgow designed by P MacGregor Chalmers and built in 1899, the other half were built in 2016 by Apsis Solutions.

Now that's a quality way to make a new build development blend in to its surrounding neighbourhood!

Glasgow's traditional red sandstone tenements, like this one in Hyndland, just glow when the sun is out.

If you look at the right hand end of this photo, you'll see a modern replacement built to fill in a gap site left when the original tenement has been demolished. This one is quite a good example of how to blend old and new.

The distinctive classical lines of Alexander 'Greek' Thomson's Great Western Terrace in the west end of Glasgow. Completed in 1877, this was one of his final works, and only eight of the eleven houses were built before he died in 1875.
