@mitchmarq42xyz I'm not familiar with #hyperbole, just heard about it in the past but didn't give it a serious try.

What #howm allowed me to do is jot down sparse notes and look them all up later.

Some things I usually write:

- Code projects' troubleshooting guides for weird setups
- Bugs I came across when working on something -> eventually these go to the issue tracker
- Standup notes -> big life-saver, that's how I'm able to remember what I did the previous day
- TIL notes for interesting things I came across

You could do the same thing with a Bash script, some common notation/headers for each of these and good old grep. Howm offers a specific function (howm-grep) to search the notes and display them in a separate buffer. It's quick to make it recognize new keywords too.

It compares pretty closely to #denote from what I heard from other people.

I can personally serve as a counterexample. #hyperbole lets you treat any text as a link - I use it in eshell, and just about anywhere else.

In fact, Hyperbole is kind of the converse (contrapositive? Something) of Org. For Org mode, the formatting and document structure is the priority while the links between resources are almost an afterthought. Whereas hyperbole excels mainly at links and buttons with the outliner slapped on top to make Org look better.

@ramin_hal9001 thanks for your talk, it's interesting and made the hearsay about #Hyperbole more concrete for me.

I also learned that it may not be something for me, given my current note-taking process. But it's a viable alternative to #orgroam without dependencies on external tools / databases.

I don’t see a large-scale adoption of #hyperbole but I do see a potential replacement for my external “what hyperlinks have I used in #org #documentation before” script. I hope that saving a few keystrokes here and there (not exchanging them for mouse clicks!) adds up over time, as I do find myself documenting relatively frequently.
