Going to meet old school friends this weekend. One of them used to do all kinds of stuff with #hypercard on #MacintoshSE
We were always arguing about PC vs Mac back in the day.
Funny thing, he jumped to the PC world when OS X came out, he did NOT like it.
Anna Anthropy complains about the lack of tutorial for Decker, and promises documenting her progress with the tool #Decker #hypercard #InteractiveFiction

@SharkaBytes Yes, #Myst is one of my favourite game franchises ever. I played the first one when it still was a #Mac exclusive #HyperCard game
Every once in a while I play the the first four. Weirdly I never finished Myst IV though. But I love all four.
And there's a new game jam starting July 1st.

Working some more on that #HyperCard #zine... which is a thing because why the heck not.
So far there's one article, three* minigames and a few pieces of art. The theme is building community with a smattering of retro tech and humour.
Gosh, there’s an open source #HyperCard clone called #Decker. There’s more info, plus links to examples of projects using it, at the intfiction forum. Decker outputs HTML that can be viewed in any #browser. https://intfiction.org/t/decker-an-open-source-apple-hypercard-clone-perfect-for-if/60473 #InteractiveFiction #RetroComputing #HyperMedia #BranchingNarrative #GUI #Apple #Mac #Macintosh

Well, you did have a lot better tools than I ;)
You try limiting yourself to 40 columns and MS BASIC and see how far you get ;)
Once I found #HyperCard, I did a lot more coding-for-fun :)
re: the last boost - here's the original website for Royal Software, which developed Livecard for #hypercard

@jwz - Holy FUCK: just LOOK at all of these responses. I had no idea there were that many, um, "Hyperheads" out there still!!!
Shoutout for Decker, a HyperCard-like environment:

@UkiahSmith @scimon Almost everything I’ve ever done has started with learning on the job.* A #developer’s greatest skill is the ability to rapidly adapt and learn new skills. I wish bullet-point #recruiters understood that.
* I taught myself #BASIC in the 1980s, later had high school classes in BASIC and #Pascal, Pascal and #HyperCard in college in the 90s, and #Csharp when I went back to finish my degree about ten years ago.

Hey folks, wanted to do #introductions on this instance.
Ever since #HyperCard got me into programming as a kid, I've been drawn to ways to empower people to build more with less effort.
I presented research on HyperCard and #Smalltalk as user-modifiable systems at LIVE 2021: https://youtu.be/x-FkNd5DkOQ
I'm currently building a web and mobile app. Here's a quick introduction: https://youtu.be/hRHvcDbNTpc
I'm looking forward to learning with y'all!

How #HyperCard got its Color Back

I saw some post referencing some new software using the term “HyperCard” which most definitely wasn’t #HyperCard! I think this picture of the cover of a brochure at the introduction of HyperCard is a good representation. It’s about associations and connections!
My /dev/world talk today, which was a HyperCard stack, said trans rights

I lost some of the wind in my sails several days ago. However, I've already succeeded because I had a solid two weeks of coding a little bit each day:
> - [x] …A bit more coding
If I can suppress my perfectionism — an unstated theme of this month's goal setting — then I have enough to check these off, too, if I release what I've made so far:
> - [ ] …Releasing a software thing…
>
> - [ ] …an MVP of my "#Hypercard mixed with #Jupyter notebooks but #POSIX shell script" idea…
I *don't* want this (a view of a separate spreadsheet). I want to insert a tiny 36-cell spreadsheet directly into the doc. Whither #hypercard ?
