I've been slowly working my way through Iain Banks' Culture novels. I read Matter a long time ago and finally decided to go through them in publishing order.

Just finished Excession and I really enjoy how much it delves into the behavior and personalities of the Culture's Minds.

Fantastic to see the '90s adaptation of ' 'The Crow Road' repeated on . Such a shame that more of his work didn't make it to the big/small screen (the rumoured Channel 4 film of 'The Wasp Factory', for instance).

When I was a student, everyone was reading by - in what I now see to be an early instance of my bloody minded avoidance of ‘popular’ things (see also: ), I decided I wouldn’t. I then went on to read loads of Banks’ books but not, until now, his first. In not unconnected news, my Christmas shopping trip was less productive than I’d hoped - at least, so far as buying other people presents is concerned…
