The tracking shots in Mikhail Kalatozov's I AM CUBA are some of the most stunning cinematography ever committed to celluloid: especially impressive when you consider how heavy cameras were in 1964. The camera scales up buildings, plunges underwater, and floats through the sky (particularly beautiful during the funeral scene). You get the sense that someone told Kalatozov he couldn't do this, but, dammit, did he find a way!
