@georgetakei meadows is all-in on moving his case to federal court, where he can attempt to claim qualified immunity. he's arguing that his federal job is to do whatever the president wants, so that anything he does is by definition part of his job. I hope it doesn't work, but even if it does, he still has to go to federal court and say that he did these things because trump wanted him to. #ianal
When is a lawyer not your legal counsel?
WHEN THEY ARE YOUR CRIMINAL CO-CONSPIRATOR
#mastodonamateurlawschool101 #tinla #ianal
That would be me being, extremely-not-a-lawyer and assuming that if someone is found guilty of breaking a law in America (as had been suggested on various website headlines), that it meant they'd been convicted.
Live and learn, I guess.
@igd_news What I'm getting from this: The reason defendants are on the hook is for not responding to a summons, so a default judgement was issued on shady standards for notification of summons service.
I mean, it should work both ways, right? (#IANAL): Given that standard, I should be able to serve a huge corporation in a newspaper article then a collect default judgement when they fail to respond.
If you're just doing it to present information in a different way and not storing it, I don't personally see a problem.
Unrelated question: Does anyone else still giggle at the acronym used to indicate you are not currently practicing law?

absolutely incredible and (#IANAL but) wildly indefensible work here by the Epic Games legal team
Updated the US criminal justice process map with Trump's two major sets of federal charges -- (a) the violation of US sensitive document laws, and (b) tampering with the 2020 election. If I'm missing any, please let me know. #IANAL #USpolitics

@mariusor Sadly, the lines are very fuzzy.
Take the chance, if you want. Me? I stay away from them entirely and advise clients to do the same.
@TonyJWells @goodthinking @pluralistic the great thing about toilets is if you can imagine something is one, you can make it one. #ianal
@Cassandra yeah he is Big Government personified it’s so weird but who would sue whom here and for what? #IANAL
So, I'm assuming that #ianal refers to something other than enjoying taking it in the butt... Or is there a meme I'm missing out on?
