TikTok sending US customer data to China is bad, but it's a symptom of a larger problem: America has absolutely zero data privacy laws. American companies are likely offloading some of their data overseas, too. There are zero ethics in tech data practices in America, and we need it. Individuals need control over the data companies collect about them.

America needs a national data privacy law like GDPR.
