Visual Effects (VFX) crews at Walt #Disney Pictures have filed with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to #unionize with backing of #vfxunion.
This marks only the second time in history #VFX pros have joined together, with the first being earlier just this month.

Approx 10 yrs ago, during the 1st major attempt to establish a VFX union, I sent an email to the president of SIGGRAPH. I stated since many VFX practitioners were being unfairly treated, I thought it would be beneficial for the SIGGRAPH organization to help with the unionization effort... since these are the same people SIGGRAPH encompasses. I was informed it wasn't the mission of #SIGGRAPH.

When you hear someone talk about how this is "the union" they are trying to treat the union as a third party that is stepping between the workers and the bosses.
The workers, however, are "the" union.
