#Ibanez SRC6MS short/multiscale "crossover" #BassGuitar

I am quite certain I figured out what model #bass I bought!

For some reason they didn't add that info so all I knew was that it is an #Ibanez BTB Premium w/ #Nordstand pickups, Mono-Rail bridge, #Gotoh turners, several EQ knobs+switches, multiple tonewoods.

Mine has black strings. Paid $700. #Reverb has a B stock for 2x that. New it was >US$1600.

I might re-finish it. Maybe sheer red/black/grey? Change gold HW to black chrome. It's gorgous but, I want more flavour. 😜

This #Ibanez SR300E was the first #BassGuitar I ever actually owned, even though I'd been playing for 18 years at that point--just always someone else's on long-term loan.

In 2018, I went to get new tires and new window tinting for my car. It ended up not needing new tires after all, but the tinting would take a few hours so I decided to walk up to Ted Brown Music (our local chain, from whom I've been buying music stuff since elementary school) to kill some time.

I should have taken a picture, but at the store the clerk showed me his #Ibanez #HRGiger series electric guitar from behind the counter. I was a huge Giger fan in my late teens and, weirdly, had JUST discovered the existence of these yesterday morning when I stumbled across one on #Craigslist, so it was wild to see another one in person the same day.

The clerk said a guy had brought it in for consignment and he had personally purchased it from him on the spot.

4-day weekends for federal holidays are something I will miss from the Army. I had yesterday off and it was pretty productive.

- sold my trusty but getting dusty #Ibanez SR300E and a 5W Hotone Thunder amp head to a 70yo retiree getting back into playing #BassGuitar.

- bought new strings for our AG95 semi-hollow body guitar; geeked out with the sales clerk (also a fan) about Ibanez instruments.

- much research of tools and services to be used later

- rehearsal for today's lake party gig.

Also, the stack behind me was a Behringer head and 8x10 fridge, not the tube Ampeg SVT and 8x10 fridge we use for practice. This was already set up and that stuff is heavy.

It had PLENTY of power and I don't think my #Ibanez sounded bad through it. I was only using a mild compressor and SansAmp DI (on pass-through).

Of course, being #Behringer, it will either last a thousand years or spontaneously combust any moment.

So #Ibanez makes their own "crossover" bass, the SRC6MS, a six-string tuned EADGBE like a regular guitar but an octave down. It's shorter scale than most basses and with lighter gauge strings, but heavier and longer than a guitar. Kind of in-between. Same pickups as my red one.

I could do cool things with this. And it's even multiscale. I immediately needed one as soon as I learned of it.

So of course I saw one at Ted Brown Music yesterday on consignment.

I will resist. For now.

oddly, in that picture, i'm holding an #Ibanez #IbanezSZ. LOL and that's not even the one i was referencing above. i only had the SZ pictured for a cple mnths. it was okay. typical low budget fret job i think is what i didn't like. most guitars in that price range are kind of like that.

Ich hatte nach dem Tod von Francisco #Ibañez meine ganze Sammlung von Clever und Smart durchwühlt. Es gibt da einen Comic, in dem sollen die beiden an der Grenze "unverzollte Ware" sicherstellen, aber über die Grenze kommt der chilenische Schriftsteller "Unverzo el Tevare". Hat jemand einen Beleg? Bin für jede Hilfe dankbar - ich fand es als #Wortspiel einfach so schön frech, und jetzt finde ich es nicht 🍅 🥴
