I've been a member of #ibew for over 25 years. I've got paid health insurance ( so long as I work for 30hrs a week) for any union contactor. I've got a guaranteed retirement. I can take classes through my local to keep me up to date with codes and new tech. I don't have to have every type of tool to do my work as an electrician. If I worked nonunion I would be required to have all of them. That's thousands of dollars.

@bethsawin California is stepping up funding for the #HighRoad training partnerships model and some #unions (#SEIU, #Teamsters, #SMART, #IBEW) are deeply involved (I work in this field). But it's up to each partnership/community to ensure that the funding also goes toward building/strengthening community infrastructure so that "green" technology fosters redistributive local economies.

As a Union Electrician I'm basically self employed. When our job is done we call the hall, get a dispatch and go work for another contractor. I've worked with hundreds. I've never received a Christmas bonus from any except today. Thank you K and B Electrical Contractors out of #Louisville Kentucky. #IBEW #Electrician

In 1934 Union Electricians made $7.60 a day. In today's money that's $168 buck.
