We can talk knowingly about a return to childhood innocence but w/ lines like "wake the devil from his dream," we may be tempted to look under the hood. Her voice cuts through the our armor of our hearts like butter. One doesn't need to know its translation, however, to come under the influence of an Amazonian #icaros.

It was quite natural to growl at my dog. We had long two-way conversations that way. When I stroked him, he'd purr at me like a cat. When he was feeling particularly satisfied, he’d talk to me in the very low frequencies of whales. The same thing applies to the #morphic_resonance of the soul, the moon, a flower, or the kind of melodies that are called #icaros in #Qetchuan, which is the language of the#Amazon. I still sing these songs for my dogs even though they passed-away years ago.

Old laptops can be used for trying out alternative operating systems, if you find that interesting?

I installed #AROS (#icaros flavour) on an old laptop (~10-15years maybe) recently, works great within the 512MB RAM while even a lightweight #Linux GUI was struggling. But I haven't actually used it much though, not enough time and my networking hardware isn't supported, sneakernet is a pain.

first impressions of #Icaros light #aros distribution:

installer is slow (and I I needed to find a physical CD-RW). installer progress reporting is limited.

some small cosmetic issues ('insert volume "P"' request, cancel gets rid of it)

one hard crash / guru mediation / software failure (not sure what I did to cause it), clicking continue froze up and I had to power off with the button.

sometimes sound (AC'97) doesn't work after cold boot, but a soft reset from the menu fixes it usually (which only takes a few seconds to get back to the desktop). default volume level is loud, no idea how to set it for the bootup sound

my networking hardware (neither broadcom ethernet, nor intel pro 2200bg wifi) seems not supported, so I have to sneakernet on USB key (luckily FAT32 is supported by both AROS and Linux, not sure what will happen if I ever need files bigger than 2GB). I didn't get to test the web browser beyond its about: page.

VESA 1024x768 graphics works ok, but the native graphics also works and has OpenGL support (but Intel i915 GPU is not so capable). The example mpeg video played fine in AROS's MPlayer.

protrekkr is the main software (music tracker) I've tried so far, unfortunately the audio is not 100% rock solid :( has a few dropouts/glitches from time to time. has built in WAV export.
