I KNOW Phantom routines are overdone but Kana Muramoto and Daisuke Takahashi are allowed because their free dance this season is SO GOOD. Just riveting and never got old. Easily my favorite Phantom of the Opera routine I've ever seen. Excellent performance from them at the World Team Trophy.

I think WTT is a fun intro for viewers new to the sport.

Because it's such a limited event (only one every 2 years, only six teams), new viewers will see the current top crop (mostly) without needing to sit through hours of early flights (that comes later, lol). By this time of the year, programs are at peak.

Also the skaters sometimes try for ridiculous jumps etc because YOLO/end of season
