#IceSheets can collapse faster than previously thought possible
Ice sheets can retreat up to 600 metres a day during periods of #ClimateWarming, 20 times faster than the highest rate of retreat previously measured, according to a new paper.

When the climate changes beyond a certain threshold, these feedbacks take charge and either grow the ice sheet or "kill" the ice sheet – irreversibly until a new stable equilibrium is met. The W. Antarctic ice sheet is vulnerable to one of these feedbacks known as marine ice sheet instability.
Whether or not this is #Antarctica's future is up to us.
