POETRY + SIGILS. Some new poetry chapbooks arrived from Broken Sleep Books in time for the long weekend. I'm already enjoying Dominic Hand's clever technological associations in The Data Harvest.

Today is (apparently) Uncommon Instrument Awareness Day, so here are 4 images showing 16th Century Western perceptions of musicians and their instruments (some more uncommon than others) from the continents of America, Africa, Asia and Europe.
From a book showing the 8 pageants held for the Christening of Princess Elisabeth of Hesse in 1596.
Bavarian State Library: Cod.icon. 340.

"During the Late Epipalaeolithic and Early Neolithic, societies across the Levant transformed their social, cultural and economic organisation, with new forms of food production, architecture and material culture. But to what extent were regional developments connected and how, in particular, did ideas and objects flow between the most southern and northern reaches of Southwest Asia?" As I deep dive into the world of , I saw a Complete Guide to by Bonnie Kate Wolf on designsystems.com. She is a master of her craft and very interesting to learn about her work in Big Tech. Overhauling 700 icons at Square ๐Ÿ˜ฑ and a lovely colorful set for Airbnb.

Definitely gives great inspiration to hone in those skills.

My goal in my STM side project is to create a functional prototype in Figma.

2/2 We as humans love and apps with fun icons. The more fashionable the better. Icons really, really, really, really matter. We know because for a year we ignored Fediverse, on it had an almost satanic ritual icon. On a good day with jarring colours.

Icons matter.

In 2021 we began work on a replacement. In 2022 we finally arrived at a good design with a (2/3)

Well this is cool news! As one of the researchers, Artur Obluski, says on Twitter, 'Seems that gods of excavations favoured us in the very last season of ERC_Research grant . We found not only the stone blocks from walls and floor of a temple of of but also enigmatic complex of chambers covered with wall paintings and inscriptions dated probably to around 1276 CE One of the paintings presents king David of Makuria in intimate and dynamic scene with Michael and kissing the hand of the latter and probably begging for protection of the city of (Old Dongola) against the wrath of unique for art The other painting shows in a unique, uncommon way and as far as I'm concerned unknown in holding a book in one and a cross in other hand and dressed in kind of monochromatic greyish robe".
