While waiting for WA budget details, I've been following some of the interesting debates in #idleg. Very different process - floor debates are real and unscripted and bills routinely fail on the floor. On the other hand, #waleg rules provide more time for public review of bills.

WA's legislature is moving away from non-binding advisory tax votes as being too simplistic to inform legislative debate. #idleg is currently debating an advisory vote concerning education policy. If want public input, put binding and detailed referendums on ballot instead
