The observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (#IDPD) every 3rd of December aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with visible and invisible disabilities. These people can be and very often are contributing and valued members of society, and today is all about appreciating them.

As you share your posts and host your events for the International Day of People with Disabilities, don't let them simply be a one-day signal of acknowledging disabled people, a box you've checked off.

'People' in this article means Taiwanese. Immigrants do not qualify for #DisabilityInclusion in #Taiwan.

"According to the Ministry of Health & SW there are 1,198,358 people w disabilities in Taiwan — approx 5% of the pop... the est pop of disabled people falls between 10–20% globally. This discrepancy can be attributed to the fact that Taiwanese govt data only includes #pwd in the social welfare system." #IDPD #IDD

It's #InternationalDayofPersonsWithDisability. As usual, there is no mention of it in the news in #Taiwan despite 1.2 million (5%) people that we know of who are registered witj a #disability. WHY?

That stat is ❌️. Stats are 15-20% of the pop on average. Taiwan is home to an aging pop . Our stats are higher.
