“Loran’s Dance” by Idris Muhammad (1974)

Some laid back jazz to start the weekend. The jacket has some wear, but as someone wiser than I once said, “I don’t play the covers.” 🤷‍♂️

Muhammad assembled a stellar and cohesive group here, everyone supporting the song, a masterclass in effortless groove.

If you’re not a jazz head, the keyboard intro may still be familiar to you if you’re a fan of the Beastie Boys, and their sample heavy record, Paul’s Boutique.
