For over a decade (!) the text message alert on my phone has been Michael Palin saying "what a strange person" from the film The Holy Grail.

In the spirit of trying to be more positive in general, I will change the text alert to Peter Shamshiri exclaiming "oh hell yeah" to whenever Michael Hobbes drops an outrageous quote block on the podcast.

Funny how the idiot who wrote this book never bothered looking up the definition of fascism, or more likely ignored it because is definitionally a right wing ideology and lies are part of the standard operating procedure of these assholes.

So there's a tech dude who's going to run for mayor in San Francisco who named his organization after a Malcolm Gladwell book. That tells you exactly the type of thinks-he's-smarter-than-he-is bro the dude is.

The podcast @ifbookspod reveals how flimsy and terrible Gladwell is with their episode about Outliers listennotes.com/podcasts/if-bo

The podcast nailing the genre:

"Reading it was similar to the experience of using modern social media, like being on Twitter all day. At the end of it, I was very tired and I had a headache, but I also learned like two new facts and it was unequivocally not worth it."

Whew. Same, guys. Same.

Favorite Michael Hobbes quote (so far) from this week’s podcast —

“Maybe his love language is reactionary boilerplate”

Excellent episode tearing down the POS liar Senator Vance, (yep sounds absolutely horrible) on

As an actual working class kid in the Water Belt of Ohio, I was screaming that Ohio wasn't Appalachia and then Michael Hobbes clarified exactly that.

(Ok, maybe SE Ohio.)

Excellent work. A must listen

I’d been hoping for an episode about dumbass book … this podcast is a PUBLIC SERVICE.

“TRIGGER WARNING: if you’re a SNOWFLAKE college professor afraid of how your students are expressing themselves, you might need a SAFE SPACE, because Michael and Peter are discussing “The Coddling of The American Mind, a book about campus culture that”s light on facts and heavy on cherry-picked anecdotes.”

I also listened to this episode of and I can’t believe some academics basically wrote a mediocre book of talking points @rottenindenmark and others have debunked repeatedly. overcast.fm/+9URJANryM

I hope the podcast will make their NYT trans panic patreon episode available to everyone at some point, but in the meantime, you should subscribe and listen to it if you can. It is so spot on. patreon.com/posts/new-york-tim

I've been catching up on podcasts a bit today, and I gotta say, I was not prepared for Michael Hodges to state "there is no such thing as a woman"

it's official, y'all, women no longer exist!

Been really enjoying , a podcast about the worst, most influential books/ideas of the last 100 years or so. It has some good episodes where they really good on schlock like The Secret, but this week, for example, has them taking on The End of History which is book written by a smart person (even if it's obviously turned out to be very incorrect).

They have a Patreon, but I'd recommend just giving their free feed a shot: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/

If you, like me, know "men are from Mars, women are from Venus" only as a late-20th century equivalent of a meme, it's worth a listen to discover how pathetic and misogynistic—and therefore damaging and insidious—this best selling self-help book of all time (!?) really is.

Listened to a great podcast today, "taking apart" (analyzing) :) books that had big (not so great) influence on society. If Books Could Kill - suggestion: the episode on 'Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus'.
