A bit disappointed by my #Garmin Fenix watch: it's supposed to be waterproof but swimming in the sea let enter some salty water via the buttons, preventing buttons to work.

Fortunately, I was able to use my #iFixit kit to open it up, and clean the buttons contacts.

Pendant que certains avaient la canicule, en #Alsace, on avait l'orage ce matin. Et j'étais évidemment à vélo dessous.
Si la pluie ne me gêne pas, mon téléphone a moins apprécié (je l'ai compris en le voyant dégouliner de flotte au boulot). Qu'à cela ne tienne, j'enlève la batterie, je le laisse sécher toute la journée, et de retour à la maison, je démonte tout, je nettoie, et je remonte. Merci #Fairphone, merci #iFixit.
Reste à savoir s'il va redémarrer... Pour l'instant ça charge.

@tojosan hard at work to improve fitness. Had some Reno work done and spent 8 weeks 0700-1700 weekdays keeping the work supervised. How you ever kept fit Nuc’n for USN I’ll never know.

Team at home are on changing times, so I’m adjusting. Spent a week and a bit with my IPadPro dead. Took it back to APPL and the power-up lightening issue was S/W not H/W. The USB-C is a common failure point. Would have cost $20 part + $100 tools via #IFIXIT. Got it back wiped (passwords are a PIA).

So good.

It took three hours but I managed to successfully swap a swollen battery for a new one on my old Pixel 3. Hopefully I can make it last a few more years! Thanks to #ifixit!

Successfully changed out the battery in my 2015 MacBook Pro! Charging it now!

That old battery is dangerous and I’m glad to be rid of it! Plus it was only allowing ~30mins of charge which makes for a poor laptop.

Ordered an #ifixit battery change kit for my 2015 MacBook Pro. Been meaning to for months but it’s gotten pretty bad.

Excited to do some DIY repair and keep this machine going. At some point I’m also planning to install a Linux desktop on it to make sure it can last a good long time.

Fedora IoT project for home automation started.

Writing image done with ARM installer that greets me with the message.

= Installation Complete! Insert into the rpi4 and boot.

Waiting for iFixit toolkit to arrive to assemble Pi 4 case.

Next is boot and install IoT image. Add additional software to run a sign board for home.

I'm disappointed.

I previously thought of #iFixit as this cool radical community-centered fixing thing, with the goals to reduce waste.

But I keep on receiving emails from them (daily?) that are all "Buy this thing you don't need and we'll throw in this other thing that you don't need for free".

It sucks and I'm disappointed.
