Bei einem Explosionsmotor wird Leistung mit Hilfe einer Explosion oder Detonation erzeugt. Umgangssprachlich wurden fälschlicherweise früher auch Verbrennungsmotoren so bezeichnet. Verbrennungsmotoren nutzen Deflagration, während Explosionsmotoren im engeren Sinne Explosion/Detonation nutzen.
