Die große Zeit der Aufklärung ist beendet, in der Postaufklärung bedient sich der Mensch vorgefertigten Meinungen in seiner Filterblase, ohne sie noch durch seinen Verstand zu prüfen. Wahrheit ist nicht mehr objektiv, sondern subjektiv nur mehr im eigenen Willen sowie seinen Gefühlen verortet. Was die Wissenschaft durch den Verstand erkennt, stellt der Mensch in der Postaufklärung wieder in Frage, ja, sieht die Ergebnisse als Bedrohung. Seinen eigenen Verstand zu nutzen, bedeutet oft harte Arbeit, es gilt die dadurch erlangte Autonomie und Freiheit verantwortlich anwenden zu müssen. Diffuse Ängste, Verlust der Fähigkeit das Gute in der Welt und den Menschen erkennen zu wollen, das Unvermögen zu vertrauen, bis hin zu Verschwörungsmythen, verhindern besonders in der unpersonalen Welt sozialer Medien die Anwendung seines Verstandes und man wird wieder unmündig. Der Philosoph Immanuel Kant schreibt:
"Aufklärung ist der Ausgang des Menschen aus seiner selbst verschuldeten Unmündigkeit. Unmündigkeit ist das Unvermögen, sich seines Verstandes ohne Leistung eines anderen zu bedienen. Selbstverschuldet ist diese Unmündigkeit, wenn die Ursache derselben nicht am Mangel des Verstandes, sondern der Entschließung und des Mutes liegt, sich seiner ohne Leistung eines anderen zu bedienen. Sapere aude! Habe Mut, dich deines eigenen Verstandes zu bedienen, ist also der Wahlspruch der Aufklärung."
