It's #RPGaDAY2023 Day 11 and the question is WEIRDEST game you've played.

I've written about an oddball session that certainly felt weird, but there's probably weirder stuff.

Like #ImpossibleLandscapes surreal horror haunting my dreams while prepping the campaign. Or #CthulhuDeepGreen adventure #FoodOfTheGods making to stop the session as I broke into a cold sweat during the finale, freaked out by what I was describing.

One of my players has chosen to take his encounters with the unnatural as revelations presented to him by the almighty, he's leaned into his character's religious convictions and chosen to use the unnatural encounters to amplify those convictions, making for some really fantastic RP moments with the other players #TTRPG #DeltaGreen #ImpossibleLandscapes #NightFloors

A recurring ballroom of life size marionettes, a mystery snack and an even more mystery bottle.Everyone is at the firefighter's tiny apartment trying to shut out the nightmare for a few hours, but the pilot comes round in the backroom of a skinhead bar. POTENTIAL IMPOSSIBLE LANDSCAPES SPOILERS!

Finally concluded @budsrpgreview’s year long campaign of #impossiblelandscapes with @Modoc @pookie and Alex Guillotte and all I can say with out too many spoilers is my character had a very SUNNY ending. 😜

6. A favorite #ttrpg character I've played?

Recently, I would say Mark Roark, from #ImpossibleLandscapes — purely for the entertainment. A desperate, drunken leech of a man.

Maybe it's a personal thing, as the campaign leaves it wide open as to how you use everyone.

Well, Mark Roark's appearances were memorable. I did a voice. I was annoying. I made a point of being unhelpful. It was a minor joy.

He was never more than a side quest, but that might have been what made it so enjoyable.

5. #ttrpg you have played the most?

Without a doubt, I would say #TheDeeSanction, though that's the system mechanics more than the setting.

As well as running a bunch of #Elizabethan adventures, I used the system to run a 38-session game of #ImpossibleLandscapes last year.

Runner up would be the #CthulhuHack — and if I picked something I hadn't written, it would probably be #Symbaroum or #MERP — games that have engaged me at very different points in my gaming experience.

During a game of Delta Green last weekend, as part of the manifestations of The Night Floors, I wrote a manifestation based on some content from the Chambers story The Mask. This ties well with some of the original stories, but also really freaked out a couple of players. I find #ImpossibleLandscapes by Dennis Detwiller for #DeltaGreen to be an incredible feat of adventure writing, though individual taste might leave some admiring it from afar. It is certainly grim, but absolutely gorgeous.
