I really want to know which neurons are responsible for expectation that when I check my email, my inbox is somehow going to be full of emails telling me that I am bad at my job and people hate me. It's especially bad coming back to check work email after being gone for a couple of weeks.

The fact that my possible/probable retirement is 21 months away is meaningless to the mind worms that like to eat my feelings of self-worth. Me, left to myself, is not a good thing. What will my internal supports be if I am not solving problems for my coworkers? What will my identity be?

Just did a "s/associate//" on my personal website...

Feels weird being a [full] teaching professor now.

Well not that weird (job hasn't really changed)... just having that title is unexpected.

When I took the job at #NotreDame 9 years ago, I was certain I was gonna be fired or let go during my initial 3 year contract.

I've been fortunate to have a supportive family, understanding friends, and great students.

Hopefully I can make it another 9 years!

The reason i opened this #mastodon account was to escape the #impostersyndrome. I was at a point where i felt like:
- Nothing is good enough
- There are always people way smarter
- I cannot compete
- My opinion is nothing worth and propably wrong

I always have to google to find what this kind of email means. The first semester I got an email about the dean’s list; I didn’t know what it meant. Honestly, I sometimes feel there might be an error in their data or something. :/ #ImposterSyndrome
