2/ So today I was giving the sixth lecture of the semester. The course is a sophomore systems #programming course, and many students are in the first semester that things get really hard for them. The first project is due today, and I have a slide that basically says:

This is hard because programming is hard.

#ImpostorSyndrome is real.

If you already knew how to do this, we wouldn't ask you to take the course.

Last year I was elected to Highland Council. This morning I was reviewing the performance of a £2.4 billion pension fund and making decisions on aspects of how it's invested.

I'm experiencing some real anxiety around upgrading the background worker for https://combine.social from the current stable worker (written in #TypeScript ) to the new version 2.0 (written in #Rust ).

There are a lot of people expecting this product to be stable and functioning, and what if I break things and disappoint people?

I've wanted an #E-InkTablet for years, but never enough to actually research them. Turns out people have been making them for years.

I am just now realizing that I've forgotten a lot of algebra, since CAD and standard reference tables have largely eliminated the need for me to calculate anything by hand. 😿

So, my #Supernote tablet is simultaneously a neat little thing that should make my life a lot easier, and also the cause of a small crisis in my life. Fun.
