Personal Computing issue 1 (Jan/Feb 1977) has an #IMSAI8080 advertisement that calls a computer motherboard as “Mother Board”. Poll #retrocomputing enthusiasts: should any beautiful piece of green (or orange or whatever) board in every computer be called:
@engarneering The #IMSAI8080 was my first computer I learned on. Booting BASIC from paper tape. #RetroComputing
@SETIEric I would rather buy this #IMSAI8080 which was my first computer. Loaded #BASIC from paper tape back in the day.

I used a computer like this to write my thesis at #HampshireCollege in 1982 on the performance of an experimental ##PassiveSolar home I helped build.
Started it by manually entering a 3 byte JMP instruction to an address in the ROM resetting the address bus switches to 0 and depressing the GO switch.
The OS in ROM was probably CPM. It enabled me to use emacs to write/edit and save onto 8” floppies.
