The Lips betray their Oklahoma roots on their 4th album, as Wayne Coyne plays a spaced-out Leon Russell on “Five Stop Mother Superior Rain.” There’s plenty of noise, too, on “God Walks Among Us Now” and the jet-fueled boogie of “Mountain Side.” Ballads like “There You Are” show the stark beauty Coyne can already muster, before the Lips began their soft ascent to brilliance.
