I didn't know it. But I was suffering from an acute shortage of magical realism. Bardo fixed that.

This is Birdman on steroids, and it works. It's as bold as 'Babylon' and as disorienting as 'Arrival'. It's a Latin American 'Being John Malkovich'.

And the cinematography is absolutely delicious.
