Replaced the light grey letters with one shade darker but you can’t really tell in the pic

After ruminating, pretty sure the wide grey border is coming off and I may cut down the width of nebula fabric to emphasize Lucy a bit more. But that’s a no coming back from decision so I’m going to think a bit more before I commit

I’ve added borders and appliqué letters to my Lucy quilt —“Women in Science Since 3.2 Million BCE” may be the cleverest phrase I’ve ever worked into a quilt design

She was supposed to be done now, except for the quilting, but I’m going to sit with her for awhile. Something’s not clicking 🤷‍♀️ maybe the letters need shading?

Lucy has a skull today! I finished cutting her arm bones yesterday (no pics unfortunately) and those were the last of the larger pieces — today I had to get out the pointy tweezers for placing tiny teeth! Loving these precise new Perfect Scissors too, tho every couple of hours I have to clean fusible off them

Dry fitting some the first appliqués for my Lucy wallhanging quilt — I am tickled pink 😉 by how well this is turning out!

I haven’t mentioned yet that the original artist of this version of Lucy’s skeleton is Misaki Ouchida, tho l used photoshop to simplify the layers so they're easier to recreate in fabric.

Steam a Seam is not my favorite fusible, but I needed repositionable for this project and, whew has it come in handy. I’m changing out the darkest pink at the last minute and all I had to do was peel off the layer of paper I’d drawn on and apply it to another piece of Steam a Seam - no redrawing all these tiny pieces!

It’s not my usual style, but I’m going heavy on the appliqué for this wallhanging. A lot of the pieces are super teeny (and puzzles are not my forte) but I really want this one to succeed so keep your fingers crossed for me
